ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS #2

For the second year in a row, the SUBPLACE exhibition space, in collaboration with Accademia di Como Aldo Galli, is proposing ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS#2, a foray into the production of young artists selected through a call for entries aimed at students in the Two-year BA Program in Painting and Digital Art and the Three-year BA Program in Painting and Visual Languages, with the goal of discovering and giving visibility to new talents who are offered the chance to hold a solo exhibition at SUBPLACE.

The winners of the call for entries for this second edition are Sancha (Two-year BA Program in Painting and Digital Art) and Caterina Giammona (Three-year BA Program in Painting and Visual Languages), whose articulated and coherent research was deemed suitable to enter into dialogue with the urban, open and hybrid context of SUBPLACE.

The first solo exhibition is dedicated to Sancha, who presents The Specimen, a series of works created with various techniques that reflect on the theme of alienation, focusing on the representation of non-conforming and non-binary bodies, described with originality and irony. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Tuesday 15 July at 6 p.m. at the mezzanine of the Villapizzone railway link station in Milan and will remain on display until 1 September 2025.
