Accademia di Como is launching a new series of public meetings entitled “Accademia di Como incontra” (Accademia di Como meets), dedicated to the languages of contemporary art and the professions and disciplines that characterize its educational programs: art, restoration, design, fashion, textiles, and graphic design. The series of events will feature guests from the worlds of culture, research, and creative professions, who will engage in dialogue with the Academy's teachers and students in discussions that are also open to the public.

The first talk, part of the IED Network's Job Future Days program, will be on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the Como Academy and will be called “Painting: Magnificent Obsession.”

The guest of the evening will be Piersandro Pallavicini, full professor of chemistry at the University of Pavia, who, alongside his academic career, has also been a writer for many years. He is the author of numerous novels published by major Italian publishing houses, including Feltrinelli and Mondadori. In his books, characterized by irony and a keen eye on contemporary society, he often intertwines literature, culture, and observations of the artistic and intellectual world.

During the meeting, Pallavicini will talk with Ivan Quaroni, curator and art critic, as well as coordinator of the Painting and Visual Languages course at the Como Academy. The discussion will focus on the relationship between collecting, writing, and the visual arts, offering a reflection on the role of painting as a passion, a study, and a “magnificent obsession.”

Admission to the event is free, subject to reservation at the following email address: info@accademiadicomo.it
